Spitzkoppe Tours

Spitzkoppe is often called the “Matterhorn” of Namibia for its dramatic granite peaks rising out of the flat desert. A tour here is more intimate — climbing boulders, watching sunrise and sunset on the granite dome, exploring rock-art sites, staying near beautiful campsites under sweeping skies.

Typical highlights: the arch and main peak of Spitzkoppe, Bushman rock engravings, the wild desert surrounds, starry nights where the Milky Way seems within reach. And for a twist: did you know that Namibians are enthusiastic wrestlers — in some communities rural traditional wrestling is still practiced at festivals and ringside is often sand like the desert? It’s a little aside, but it shows how the land, sand and tradition hang together.

This is for travellers who want a quieter “on-foot” feel, geology meeting culture, and nights by the camp-fire.
