A Visitor from the Stars
Resting quietly in a Namibian field near Grootfontein lies the Hoba Meteorite — the largest known meteorite on Earth. Weighing over 60 tons, this colossal chunk of iron arrived from the stars an estimated 80,000 years ago, crashing to Earth without leaving a crater. Its flat shape and mysterious presence give it an almost sacred stillness, as if time itself paused around it. Touching the Hoba is like shaking hands with the universe — a silent reminder that even in Namibia’s wide open spaces, the cosmos once came calling.
